Rangers’ Igor Shesterkin shares heartwarming moment with son ahead of Game 2 win

An adorable scene took place before the Rangers beat the Capitals 4-3 in Game 2 of the NHL playoffs at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.

Igor Shesterkin shared a heartwarming moment with his 1-year-old son, Timofey, down by the ice during warmups as the tiny Shesterkin was held up by the Rangers goalie’s girlfriend, Anna Butusova, and smiled from ear to ear as he banged on the glass.

The young son seemed to get even more excited as Shesterkin came into the frame and then pushed his face against the glass.

Timofey then seemed to point down the ice, telling his hockey-playing father to get back into the net.

Shesterkin then nodded his head and skated away.

Timofey was sporting a blue cap along with a Rangers bomber jacket with Shesterkin and the No. 31 on the back.

The Rangers netminder made 22 saves — stopping 20 of 21 chances at even strength — in Game 2 of the first-round series with the Caps.

Tuesday night wasn’t the first time that Shesterkin and Timofey have had a viral moment at a Rangers game.

During a February game, the two shared a cute moment where Timofey had also ordered his dad back to the net, to which Shesterkin complied.

And in November, the two went viral after a video was posted to Instagram of Shesterkin playing goal while playing floor hockey with his son.

The Rangers, who are now up 2-0 in the series, finished the season with a 55-23-4 record and are looking to advance past the first round after they had been knocked out of the postseason by the Devils in the opening round last season.
